The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies has released the documentary “Min Ana” (Who am I?).
The documentary is created by PREVEX researchers Donato Di Bartolomeo (EUI) and Georges Fahmi (, in collobartion with the film creator Allesandro Margo.
This documentary explores the complexities of identity, faith, and resilience through three compelling narratives:
- Mohammed: From Extremism to Redemption In Morocco, we follow Mohammed, a former Salafi preacher who served seven years in prison on terrorism-related charges. His story is one of radicalization, incarceration, and eventual redemption. Mohammed’s journey forces us to confront the harsh realities of extremism and its devastating consequences.
- Adam: A Quest for Redemption Adam, a young Egyptian, seeks to rebuild his life in Turkey after being involved in a radicalized violent group. His narrative is one of struggle, resilience, and the desire for a fresh start. Adam’s story underscores the challenges individuals face when attempting to leave behind a past marred by violence.
- The Alevi Community: Defiance Amidst Repression The documentary takes us to Istanbul, where members of the Alevi community find solace and strength in their faith while enduring violent repression and discrimination. Their unwavering commitment to their beliefs serves as a testament to the power of faith as a source of resilience.
