About

Osland is a Senior Research Fellow and the Head of the Research Group on Peace and Conflict at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oslo.

Her main fields of specialisation are international police reform in particular and security sector reform in general, peace and state-building, war crimes, evaluation and measuring of peace operations, political analysis of the Balkans, and the changing character of war. 

Osland has done extensive fieldwork in Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, South Sudan, Sudan, FYR Macedonia, and Montenegro.
