Steffi Marung

About

Marung is a Professor at the University of Leipzig and has been affiliated as a Researcher with the University’s Centre for Area Studies, now Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe), since 2011. She holds a PhD from the University of Leipzig’s Graduate Center Humanities and Social Sciences, and a master’s in Political Science and German Literature from the University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany.

Marung’s main research fields include regimes and territorialization in global history, history of area studies, and European integration history. Her current research project is titled: “Area Studies in Soviet Union: An Entangled History with a Specific Focus on Soviet African Studies.”
